Dear Friends and Sponsors:

Greetings to you and your family from all of our children, especially your godchild, Staff and the Board of Directors of SOS Children's Village of The Dominican Republic. The following are the newest special events in our SOS Children’s Village Life:

It’s pretty advanced the construction of our third SOS Children's Village in Santiago de los Caballeros City …

The Dominican SOS Children’s Villages began the construction of a third SOS Village in the city of Santiago de Los Caballeros in September 2002. This Village will have 15 family houses with capacity to house 150 children, and will have a multiuse hall, and an SOS Kindergarten and Primary School for 400 students and an administrative building (See photos below).

Once again this year the whole SOS world had a big Celebration: The SOS-Day on the 23rd June!

As always in our country we had an agenda full of frolics activities prepared by and for the children to our visitors and SOS staff: activities such as: Theatre / Musical Performances, Fine Arts expositions and Dominican Games Contests such as this called: ‘Palo Encebado’ which consists on climbing a long greasy pole, those who achieve to reach the summit in spite of the grease is the winner, this is a traditional Dominican game.

We also had a First Communion during those days, this is a unforgettable and wonderful religious experience for the children and youth people. During the activities Children and youth people with good behavior in the village and good marks at school received a SOS awards and their photos will be showed all year long in the SOS Board of Honor this will encourage other children to do their best next year.

During these days we also had the wedding from our SOS CV Los Jardines departee Luz del Carmen Hernández, we were all so excited about it. We wish her and to her husband a very happy new life!!

In closing, the entire SOS Children's Village of the Dominican Republic, express sincere
appreciation for your kindness and generous support, our doors are wide open to you and to your whole family always.

Sincerely yours,

Josefina Delgado Abreu
National Director.
